Susana Soto has illustrated Pirate Baby, a brilliantly silly new picture book written by Monica Acker and published by Marble Press (15 September 2026). Pirate captain Cally takes whatever she wants, terrorises her crew, and has absolutely no intention of changing, until she fishes a very ordinary houseplant from the sea. Bold, sharp and full of kid appeal, it has been compared to the picture books of Jory John and Corey R. Tabor, and it is easy to see why.
